Some members of various political parties across the sixteen Local Government Areas of Ekiti State converged in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital to register Presidential ambition support for the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
This is coming as the Country sets toward preparation for the general election next year 2023.
The group known as Osinbajo Grassroots Organisation (OGO), came together in their numbers to deliberate on how to make the ambition of the Vice President a reality.
A former member of Ekiti State House of Assembbly and Director General of the organisation in Ekiti State, Hon. Femi Adeleye, explained that their visit to some parts of the country necessitated their coming together having seen how people embraced and accepted the aspiration of the Vice President.
In his word, “we don’t want Ekiti to be left out, hence the need to bring ourselves together as Osinbajo Grassroots Organisation.
Describing the Vice President, Hon. Adeleye, noted that he’s a man of circumstance as he never lobbied or contested to become the Vice President of Nigeria. Being a man who has been very loyal to his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, he said Nigerians are calling for him at this time of the Nation because he has been a sincere and very dependable man.
The former SA to Ekiti State Governor further explained that for the little period that the President travelled out of the country for medical treatment, Osinbajo was able to oversee the affairs and running of the Nation successfully without any rancour.
“He did wonderfully well and Nigeria moved well. Even the APC as a party was not divided. Since the President has agenda, we want the agenda to continue with Osinbajo, having been tested and trusted. Though, the issue of security is still a challenge but the President has done so well in so many areas and that’s why we want Osnibajo to continue”
Hon. Adeleye, noted that everybody loves Osinbajo saying that’s why the gathering was made a joint one irrespective of political affiliations.
According to him, “when we did not even call them, they came on their own and we are not sending anyone away because we want Osinbajo to win the election”.
He therefore, appealed to Ekiti people to vote for Osinbajo this time around believing that they would benefit immensely through Babafrmi Ojudu, who is there in the Presidency to attract a lot of benefits to the State.
Also, another member of the group, Dr. Sikiru Olowoyo, from Ado-Ekiti, explained that the essence of the organisation in Ekiti, is to mobilise Ekiti people to throw their support for Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
According to Dr. Olowoyo, it’s obvious that Nigerians are calling on the VP to contest 2023 Presidential Election. Saying that, it is better to be called upon to serve than to impose oneself on people to serve. “I believe that if people call on you, asking you to contest, it means that they have seen some stints that you are capable of, before they can call upon you. Nigerians have seen some good qualities in the leadership of Osibanjo”.
“With him as our President in Nigeria, I believe there will be a good development and the country will move forward”.
Olowoyo, explained that the gathering was at the instance of Hon. Femi Adeleye, to start mobilising people across the State to ensure that the Vice President gets the good support he deserves from the people of Ekiti State.
“It is expected that the representatives of all the local governments present would go back home to start mobilising and sensitising their people for Osinbajo to become the next President of Nigeria”. He concluded.
Another participant, Pastor Adetunji Joel Bamidele, from Irepodun Local Government Area of the State, said they are earnestly praying that God should give Nigeria a man of His own heart to lead the country as he stated that he’s not entertaining any doubt that God would intetvene in the affairs of the country through the organisation.
Pastor Adetunji, noted that Nigerians are really suffering in every facet of life. He said what Nigeria needs is God intervention to surmount all the problems and challenges confronting the nation. Saying that’s why he joined them at the gathering to chart the way forward.
According to the man of God, “People are looking at somebody that could take the country to its next level. Osinbajo has performed creditably well. This time around, I want Ekiti to join hands with other parts of this nation to bring about Osibanjo’s candidacy for things to go on well with Nigerians”. Pastor Adetunji said.
