In a thrilling display of skill, endurance, and teamwork, the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure, has emerged as the overall winner of the fiercely contested 2 Division Inter-Brigade warrant officers and senior non commissioned officers Competition.
The event, held at the 323 Artillery Regiment Obstacle Ground, Owena Cantonment, Akure, brought together top brigades from across the division and showcased the Nigerian Army’s commitment to excellence, discipline, and combat readiness.
The participating brigades included 4 Brigade Benin, 12 Brigade Lokoja, 22 Armoured Brigade Ilorin, 32 Artillery Brigade Akure, 42 Engineer Brigade Ede, and 2 Division Garrison Ibadan.
The competition, which began on Monday, 16th June and ended on the 19th of June, was designed to enhance combat proficiency, leadership skills, and teamwork among soldiers.
Announcing the results, the Chief Judge of the Competition, Lieutenant Colonel Nsima Nkanang declared that the 32 Artillery Brigade clinched the first position with a cumulative score of 450 points.
The 2 Division Garrison came second with 420 points, while the 42 Engineer Brigade secured third place with 390 points.
The 12 Brigade took fourth position with 380 points, while the 4 Brigade came fifth with 250 points.
The 22 Armoured Brigade Ilorin finished sixth with 260 points and was awarded the Wooden Spoon.
In his closing remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, represented by Brigadier General Adeboye Obasanjo, who was the Special Guest of Honour, commended the participants for their passion, resilience, dexterity, skills, and professionalism.
He said, “This glamorous outing is undoubtedly the result of hard work, discipline, and resourcefulness demonstrated during the various stages of preparation by each contingent.
“The competition commenced on 16th June with a ‘drill Competition’ and concluded with a 2.4-kilometre run and an obstacle crossing.
“On this note, I congratulate you all for successfully completing this competition.
“The General Officer Commanding will continue to leverage every opportunity to improve our individual and collective effectiveness within the 2 Division area of responsibility, in order to consistently accomplish both specific and implied tasks towards the actualisation of the Chief of Army Staff’s vision.
“Furthermore, may I recognise and commend the effort of the Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for his unwavering support to the 32 Artillery Brigade.
“I also extend my gratitude to the good people of Ondo State for their warm hospitality to our troops deployed in the state.
“The performance of the soldiers is a true reflection of the time and dedication committed to ensuring that they undergo thorough training and rehearsals. I say well done to all of you.
“I appreciate the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, for hosting this competition on behalf of the Division.
“I also wish to recognise and applaud the Division Training Officer and his team for their professionalism, commitment, and dedication in achieving this great feat”, he concluded.
