BUA Cement Company Sokoto,as part of its corporate social responsibility has donated 12 cows and 200 bags of rice worth N70 million to 1,700 households in 5 selected districts to support them in commemoration of Sallah Festival.
Speaking while presenting the rice and cows to district heads, Thursday, the head of the company’s corporate social unit, Malam Rabi’u Maska, said the company is looking for the possibility of expanding the gesture to cover all the 11 districts in Wamakko local government area of the state.
The five selected districts are; Wamakko, Kalambaina, Wajake, Gumbi and Arkilla, with about 1700 households expected to benefit from the gesture.
Maska further explained that, to ensure the gesture reaches the targeted people, the company has constituted a monitory team to go round the benefiting districts to monitor the distribution.
“The company is aware that there are vulnerable people in the host communities, and we are expecting 1700 households to benefit; by implications we are targeting 3000 people,“ he said.
Also speaking, the director of administration, Malam Sada Suleiman, who represented the Managing Director, Engr Yusuf Binji, appreciated the support from the state, local governments and host communities.
In his remarks, the special adviser to the governor on Corporate Organisations, Alhaji Usman Fako, said the gesture was in line with the state governor’s 9-point agenda.
