Human rights activist and convener of the #RevolutionNow Movement, Comrade Omoyele Sowore, has urged Nigerians across the country to join him in a nationwide protest on October 1st.

According to him, the protest is aimed at voicing opposition to the hardships, hunger, unemployment, insecurity, and poverty that he claims have been exacerbated by the Bola Tinubu-led administration.

In a statement posted on Monday evening, Sowore emphasized that he cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering endured by the Nigerian people.

He announced his intention to be on the streets with fellow citizens, calling for change.

According to Sowore, protests and revolts are fundamental tools for people to express dissatisfaction with the government’s anti-people policies.

He stressed that the right to protest is ingrained in every person and vowed to exercise that right on October 1st and beyond.

Reflecting on his personal experiences, Sowore reminded the public that he spent five of the last six years either imprisoned, detained, or confined under the All Progressives Congress-led government on charges of treason, which were eventually withdrawn. Despite the threats to his freedom, he remains resolute in his fight for a better Nigeria.

“As long as I have breath in my lungs and strength in my fists, I will continue to fight for the Nigerian people’s right to a decent life, good governance, and justice,” he declared.

He further affirmed that the protests would persist until the government meets the legitimate demands of the Nigerian people.

Sowore concluded by inviting Nigerians to join the protest on October 1st, stating, “We cannot remain silent or indifferent in the face of these hardships. #RevolutionNow #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.”
