… Laments quick wealth Syndrome among Youths
In commemoration of the 2022 Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) day celebration, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Ekiti state has urged stakeholders to expedite efforts on the total eradication of the scourge.
The theme of the 2022 celebration is
“Accelerating Investment to End Female Genital Mutilation”
NAWOJ in a statement in Ado-Ekiti by its Chairperson Mrs Fatima Bello and Secretary Mrs Adewumi Ademiju urged Nigerians on the need to urgently end FGM.

NAWOJ stated that “the negative impact of the obnoxious cultural practice on the health of girl-child is enough to generate concern among the people”
The Women Journalists however commended the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi on her various advocacies at putting an end to the menace in our state.
NAWOJ also commends other stakeholders for their ferocious fight against the dangerous practice.
NAWOJ therefore appealed to philanthropists and relevant stakeholders to join hands with women advocates to assist the FGM practitioners to diversify to other sources of income through empowerment and regular education.
NAWOJ also used the occasion to express deep worry over the alarming rate of desperation among the youths to get rich quickly and wrongly.
The women Journalists urged parents/ guardians on good parentage and added that child care cannot be left alone in the hand of teachers. Parents have the greatest role to play.
NAWOJ charged Parents and guardians on exemplary role modelling in our society to ensure proper Child upbringing.
