A Nigerian woman, Mrs Hannah Aderemi James, currently resident in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State of Nigeria has cried out over what she described as repeated threat to her life and that of her young daughter, Miss. Oluwatomiwa Ayomide James.
In her chat with our correspondent, she stated amidst a torrent of tears that she did not know who is after her life as she has repeatedly escaped kidnapping and robbery attempts on the highway in some parts of the country in the last six months.
She remarked that similar security threats prompted her husband, Mr Akinlolu Igbayilola James over a familial conflict on his Father’s properties that made him leave Nigeria in 2018 to the United States of America, from where he emigrated to Canada.
According to the traumatised woman, she stated: ‘The problem of insecurity of lives and property is not a new occurrence in Nigeria, but I never knew how bad it was till I almost fell a victim.
” I want to call on the security forces to beam more search lights on the rampant insecurity challenges we have as a nation that has seen me running from pillar to post, including switching homes and location to escape being attacked by unknown gunmen in the last one year.
” I have made formal reports of the incidents to the Police, but I still feel so unsafe. I only hope and pray that all would be well. I want the authorities to wade in and put a total stop to the insecurity in the land’. ” She stressed.
Our correspondent also spoke with some of her neighbours in Ibadan, her former residence, confirmed one of the attacks.
However, the Investigating Police Officer, IPO in charge of the reported attack who spoke on the condition of anonymity decried the despicable act and promised on behalf of the force that they would continually do their job of protecting the lives and property of Nigerian citizens.
He also stated that the matter was currently being investigated, whilst promising to make public the outcome of their investigations.
