Members of Grace Covenant Centre, Ado-Ekiti, The CAN, PFN, the Gideons and the Gospel Musicians GOMAN & the Ado Varsity Christian Union (AVCU–NIFES) came together on Sunday 30th August 2026 to celebrate prominent academic leader, a retired Professor of Mathematics and spiritual mentor, Prof. Felix Makanjuola Aderibigbe, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
The delegation brought together former students based across Nigeria along with representatives of diaspora alumni branches in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada who joined the proceedings virtually via a live stream.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers, representatives announced two major presentations designed to recognize the professor’s decades of institutional service and spiritual guidance.
The first presentation is an academic endowment fund totaling ₦1 million, instituted directly in the celebrant’s name to support academic excellence at Ekiti State University (EKSU). Under this framework, the top graduating student in the Department of Mathematics will receive a ₦100,000 cash prize at every convocation ceremony for the next ten years. Organizers confirmed that they will confer with Prof. Aderibigbe to select a specific course within the department that holds personal significance to him, which will form the basis for awarding the prize to outstanding students throughout the decade.
The second presentation was a Toyota Venza SUV, presented to the celebrant during the event. Organizers described the vehicle as a practical gesture of appreciation from his former students and mentees, acknowledging his personal sacrifices and steady leadership over many years in both academic and Christian ministry circles.
Responding to the gifts, the celebrant and his wife Prof Mrs Esther Aderibigbe expressed “profound gratitude to the alumni and faith communities for the honours.” They noted that seeing his former students thrive globally remains the greatest reward of his academic and spiritual labour.
The event concluded with prayers led by ministry leaders for Prof. Aderibigbe and his family, invoking continued strength, sound health, and long life in his service to the university and the church of God.
