
Stakeholders in maritime industry have solicited supports for the second term of President Bola Tinubu on the continuity of Renewed Hope Agenda in 2027.

The stakeholders under the aegis of Asiwaju Maritime Network, (AMN) highlighted the efforts of Tinubu’s administration in “strengthening Nigeria’s indigenous shipping industry and the repositioning of local operators for global competitiveness.”

The AMN group which has the focus on realization of the role of maritime sector in the national economy expressed “unflinching support” for the current administration in the country in other to achieve the noble objective.

AMN, is also a platform for maritime stakeholders to interact, dialogue and mobilise support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (ABAT) on peculiar needs of the maritime sector in Nigeria
The AMN Vice Convener, Tokunboh -Ajila Jakande speaking at this year’s Maritime Day held September 25, 2025, with the theme “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity, lauded the administration of Tinubu “on creating a conducive operating environment for indigenous shipowners.
“Improved standard in the maritime sector will create jobs,retain value within our economy ,and build a stronger maritime nation premised on local capacity”, she said.
Ajila-Jakande who was part of the group thay led 6,000 maritime workers across Apapa, Lagos to canvass votes for Tinubu during the 2023 general election appreciated the President “for creating the Ministry of of Maritime and Blue Economy while also commended the Minister , Adegboyega Oyetola for “his visionary leadership and inclusive approach to engaging stakeholders in the implementation of the Blue Economy agenda”.
Ajila- Jakande who was once the Team lead on the implementation of offshore waste reception facilities in Nigeria territorial waters and currently the Head, cabotage revenue at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency called relevant stakeholders to address the issue of gender gap in maritime industry.
The former Assistant Public Relations Officer,PRO of Women in Shipping urged on” improved fairness, equality and inclusion in the maritime sector” stressed that “women have what it takes to bring change in the shipping sector.”
She urged for the supports of all Nigerians”for the continuity of Tinubu’s administration on vibrant development , more transformation in all sectors with continued dividends of democracy”.
When asked about her political ambition, she said,
I tried twice for House of Rep, Ekiti Central Constituency 1 but I was told its not yet my turn. I will aspire again and hopefully, e mi lo kan.
