The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Presidential Candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has pledged to make policies that directly improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians a major focus of his presidential campaign.
Governor Makinde made the declaration in Abuja on Monday while commissioning the Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Office, an event attended by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, and other political leaders.
He said Nigerians must be carried along in the formulation and implementation of government policies, stressing that citizens deserved better access to the benefits of the country’s natural resources.
The Oyo State governor particularly cited Nigeria’s status as an oil-producing country, saying more needed to be done to ensure petroleum products are accessible and affordable to Nigerians.
He said his campaign would prioritise policies designed to address the everyday challenges faced by citizens and improve their quality of life.
Earlier, Governor Bala Mohammed said the gathering was part of efforts to promote a new leadership direction for the country.
Mohammed said the vision was anchored on tact, accountability and responsible governance, reaffirming his call for a “Reset Nigeria.”
The event also attracted the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, who said political differences among the leaders should not stand in the way of pursuing a common national objective.
Obi said the gathering demonstrated that leaders from different political platforms could unite around the need to address Nigeria’s challenges.
