The candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP for the seat of Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Congressman Bimbo Daramola has tasked Journalists as fourth estate of the realm to use the profession to sanitize the society he describes as full of corruption and setback.
Daramola gave the submission on Tuesday in an interaction with Journalists at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ,old governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti.
The former member House of Rep. said “society cannot be built by politicians alone,it will take the efforts of people including Journalists .
“Scrupulous politicians take advantage of poverty,hunger inflicted on people use it to take them for granted.”
Daramola expresssed confidence in his Political experience to win the election and bring dividends of democracy back to his constituency .
The SDP candidate stated that a vibrant candidate should be able to come up with his antecedent that made him qualify for the position.
“Anybody who wants to lead should come with his strong reasons why he’s the right person. Party is a container, the content is what makes it
“It’s human beings that redefine the Political party,we need to work within ourselves as media to do more enlightenment, trace the background and scrutinize the society.
He promised to use his influence and connections with highly placed personalities across the country to facilitate great opportunities for people of his Constituency if elected
He added that his track records within and outside office as a lawmaker are enough to earn him electoral victory in the forthcoming election if it’s transparent.
He also noted that many serving lawmakers, governors and candidates seeking elections to the National Assembly today are either his contemporary, business partner or friend saying such development will also help him to get out dividends to his people.
Daramola who described one of his opponent, All progressives congress,APC candidateAkin Rotimi as an “apprentice” in the game of politics and lawmaking
.
He said:”When I was a lawmaker I gave my best to better the lots of my people, I gave them constant feedbacks and reached out to them in all areas.
“Even outside office, I bought JAMB forms for two thousand and fifty students among whom today have graduated from different faculties.
“My impacts in the lives of many constituents are beyond party and religion levels, and this is because of my background.
Delving more into reasons for a decent society, Daramola said if the society goes to the dust everybody suffers” he lamented the rate at which judgement is being pervaded to suit wrong people over selfishness and corruption.
“How can somebody who did not obtain senate form ,went to contest for presidency declared as winner of senate ticket. He also decried vote buying in election as cancerous that can destroy any nation
“The only reason why people can trust me is that i have proved that i am trustworthy with record that would validate good plan
If elected, Daramola promised to provide loans for youths and farmers to engage in ventures that would enhance their economic status and facilitate projects of importance to the state.
Speaking on the redesign naira noteconsequences, Daramola said he is in support of the policy if truly it would curb vote buying.
He knocked the APC government for the inability to construct the Ado Akure road for almost eight years now, as well as other roads in Ekiti state.
