…..Applauds Fayemi on shelving ambition for Tinubu
In the build up to the preparation for the next year general election coming up in Nigeria, the council for Islamic Affairs, Ekiti state has enjoined voters especially muslims in the state to troop out enmasse and collect their permanent Voters’ card PVC to be able to exercise their franchise at the poll.
The council also commended the state governor Kayode Fayemi for stepping down his presidential ambition for the candidate of the All Progressives congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
It described Fayemi in taking such decision as a patriotic Nigerian who prioritizes love for common interest above religious sentiment.
The council also urged muslim voters to elect credible and patriotic candidate who has interest in protecting unity of the nation and well being of the citizenry.
The Islamic affairs gave the submission in a press release jointly signed by the President Alhaji (Dr) Hammed Afolabi Bakare , the secretary Alhaji Mureim Alabi jegede and the public relations officer PRO sheikh Ahmed Yusuf.
The statement reads:
“Voter’s card and 2023 elections
We Wish To Urge All Muslims In Ekiti State who are of Voting Age and Yet To Register for Permanent Voters Card to go and do so urgently now within the Period allowed by INEC. That Is between now and 31st, July, 2022 Or any date the exercise is extended to by INEC.
” Those that have registered but yet to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) should go and do so Immediately and keep them safely for Voting during coming Elections in 2023 and Beyond”
The council which gave advice to Muslims on Election stated :
“All Muslims In Ekiti State Should Go Out en mass to exercise their Right In All Elections and most Especially on 2023 Presidential Election to Vote For Candidates Who Will Protect and Respect their Fundamental Human Rights as a Muslim and be just ,fair to all Nigerians. The Person Who Can Maintain the Peaceful Co-Existence of all Nigerians and yhe Unity Of the Country.
“We commend His Excellency Dr John Kayode Fayemi, the Governor of Ekiti State being A Man Of Honour And Integrity, A Christian for stepping down for Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a muslim during presidential primary election of APC.
“We Pray that God will continue to honour him too. He would rule Ekiti state Successfully In Sha Allah. We wish he will continue to be Fair And Just to muslims in the state up to his last day in office as governor, that we muslims will never forget to be praying for him”.
The council which congratulated all Muslims in the state for peaceful celebration of id-kabir and wish all pilgrims in the holly land for 2022 hajj operation save journey back home also congratulated Fayemi for the peaceful conduct of governorship election in the state that produced “a responsible, reliable and home grown capable Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as governor elect for the state.”
The council also felicitated with all muslims in the state and all over the world in advance for the beginning of muslims new year 1444 AH on 1st Muharam ,1444 AH (30th july 2022).
” Wishing them peaceful year with prayers to Almighty Allah on freedom from violence,injustice and kidnapping”.
