SSG Adubiaro Advocates Strategic Role of Women in National Development at NAWOJ Southwest Summit

The Secretary to Ekiti State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, has emphasized the vital role of women in driving national development, inclusiveness, and sustainable growth, asserting that meaningful progress cannot be achieved without their active, informed, and strategic participation across all sectors of society.

Prof. Adubiaro made this known in a goodwill message delivered during the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Southwest Zonal Summit, held on Wednesday at the Sani Abacha Memorial Hall, Old Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti. The summit was themed “Women as Catalysts in Nigeria’s Path to Progress.”

Represented by the Director in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Olufemi Adediran, Prof. Adubiaro expressed excitement to be part of the summit, which brought together women in the pen profession. She urged female journalists to continue shaping narratives, spotlighting injustices, promoting accountability, and inspiring future generations through their work.

“Your role in deepening democratic values, promoting equity, and holding society to higher standards cannot be overstated,” she said.

She described women journalists not merely as reporters but as nation builders, the conscience of society, and champions of truth.

Speaking further, Prof. Adubiaro commended the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for its unwavering commitment to gender inclusiveness. She noted that under his leadership, Ekiti State continues to empower women, recognizing it not as a favour but a necessity.

“From policy to practice, we are fostering an environment where women’s voices are heard, their contributions acknowledged, and their rights protected,” she said.

As the summit continued, she urged participants to remember the influence they wield—not just as journalists, but as women of purpose and vision. She expressed hope that their deliberations would contribute meaningfully to national transformation.

The event brought together leading voices in journalism, governance, and advocacy, reinforcing the essential role of women in shaping Nigeria’s future.
