The Lecture is titled ‘Securing the insecure Nation: Social Studies to the Rescue”

According to Olanipekun, “it is quite unfortunate that the situation we are in currently is rather worrisome going by the challenges bedeviling the country. This inaugural lecture cited a number of instances which we already know, therefore it is in our duty to be our brother’s keeper by not being non-chalant towards the things we witness in our society.”

He also charged everyone to always be willing to give out the necessary information to security agents to aid in their work.

Delivering  lecture on the topic, Professor Osalusi stated that the complexities of living has led to major controversies raising questions about practices, ideas and how to educate individuals purposely to function effectively and intelligently both as citizens and as people capable of driving social change.

According to her, the current state of affairs in Nigeria which is formed highly by insecurity issues can be tackled with the value-landen contents of social studies capable of inculcating desirable attitudes bringing about positive changes in perspectives on issues.

She further stated that, ” adequate development in Nigeria could be achieved through inculcation of Social Studies contents in learners at all levels, thereby correcting the imbalances in attitudes and making citizens capable of participating in resolving problems facing the society.”
