The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Ekiti state chapter has urged stakeholders on constant efforts and collaborate with the government in eradicating gender based violence.
NAWOJ gave the advice in commemoration of this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence .
It is an annual event celebrated from 25th November to 10th December as declared by the United Nations.
The theme of this year 2021 is: “Orange the World: End Violence against Women now”
Ekiti NAWOJ in a statement by the Chairperson,Mrs Fatima Bello and the Secretary Mrs Adewumi Ademiju tasked relevant stakeholders not to leave the advocacy in the hand of government alone.
The statement applauded the wife of the state governor,Erelu Bisi Fayemi on “the proactiveness on gender based issues”.

The women Journalists commended the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi in view of the line of activities always earmark for the event in the state.
NAWOJ urged civil society organizations and various bodies to respond positively on rigorous collaboration with government with determination to end violence against women and girl child.
- “The prevalence rate of gender based violence can only be tackled when meaningful stakeholders and those in positions of authority partner with various activities in terms of Sensitization , awareness and enlightenment,this would go a long way in taming the menace,breaking culture of silence in victims and at the same time negate evil collaboration on cover-up of violence in the society”
The women Journalists gave assurance that it would exploit the profession to wage war against gender based violence.
