The Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, EKSU, Professor Edward Olanipekun said he received the news of the passage of the Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Funminiyi Afuye with a rude shock.
Professor Olanipekun in a press release signed by the EKSU Head Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs,Bode Olofinmuagun described Rt. Hon. Afuye as “a good friend of the university who would be greatly missed”. He noted that the late Afuye was “a humble and diligent lawmaker who served Ekiti State meritoriously”.
While commiserating with his immediate family, Ikere Ekiti community, members of Ekiti State House of Assembly and the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Vice Chancellor prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
He further prayed that the Almighty God would grant the family, friends and associates of Rt.Hon. Afuye the fortitude to bear his passage.
