Today is Eldl Kabir

Muslim across the world celebrate the eidl kabir today , Saturday, July 9.

The festival commemorates the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim to Almighty God when he offered to sacrifice his only son Ismaeel .

It comes up the following day of Arafat as eidl- adha.

Muslims go to Eid- praying ground, observe prayers to Almighty Allah on the occasion after which ram is slaughtered as directed and approved by Allah to Ibrahim during the historic incident .

Islamic scholars,a lecturer in the department of Islamic studies, Ekiti state University, Ado Ekiti, EKSU Alhaji Musa Raheem and the Imaam Ekiti state government house, Alhaji Abdul Fatai Olohungbebe have charged the Islamic faithful on the lessons of the devotion of Ibrahim.

They urged muslims on “love, Obedience to Allah and kindness to humanity”as demonstrated by the Holy Prophets when they were alive.

The Ekiti state governor Kayode Fayemi  in his Sallah message noted that the Eid- el-Kabir became a symbolic event following the bountiful reward Prophet Ibraheem received for his demonstrated perseverance and absolute faith in God by holding tenaciously to his faith during the trying period.

 

“This symbolic Islamic festival is a constant reminder to us that, there will always be great rewards when we have abiding faith and patience during trying periods and remain persistent in prayers

The Chairman, Southern Senators’ Forum, Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele in his own message saluted Muslim Ummah for their immense contributions to national unity and development, thereby sustaining the national fabric, urging them to increase the tempo for the country to reach the destination it deserves.

“Let me congratulate our Muslim brothers on this year’s occasion of Eid-el-Kabir and call their attentions to the fact that this celebration must be more of seeking God’s face for quick intervention in the affairs of our nation, rather than the fanfare that used to accompany it”

The Federal government had declared July 11 , 12 – Monday and Tuesday next week to celebrate mark the Eidl Kabir.
