Datti Blasts Obidients Over Attacks, Says He Has More Damaging Revelations on Obi

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has slammed supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as Obidients, over what he described as sustained attacks against him.

Datti has in recent weeks criticised Peter Obi’s move to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition and his subsequent defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), a development that angered Obi’s supporters who accused him of betraying Obi and working for ADC presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Datti said Obidients are always quick to attack him whenever he says the truth about Peter Obi, warning them to desist.

“Obidients are always eager to attack me. I have more damaging things to reveal. You attack me because I told you the truth about Peter Obi,” he said.

He maintained that he remains a loyal member of the Labour Party but will not be silenced by supporters who, according to him, do not know what transpired in 2023.

In a related development, Minister of Works, David Umahi, has dismissed Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition, describing him as “nobody” and saying he does not represent the interests of the South East.

Umahi, who described himself as the “Lion of the South East,” listed former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, former Minister of Education Sam Egwu and former Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chief Elias Mbam, as more qualified than Obi.

He urged people of the South East to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, arguing that it would position the region to benefit politically when it is its turn to produce the President.
