Rare Honour as Holy Kaaba Is Draped in Nigerian Colours for President Tinubu in Makkah

The Holy Kaaba in Makkah was adorned with the Nigerian national colours of green and white as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was granted the rare privilege of entering the sacred structure at Masjid al-Haram.

The special moment, which occurred during the President’s visit to the holy city, was disclosed on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in a media post by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Honourable Bayo Onanuga.

President Tinubu was accompanied into the Kaaba by Sheikh Dahlulah Muthawal of Masjid al-Haram and the President’s State Protocol Officer, Ahmad Zafeer.

The decoration of Islam’s holiest site with Nigeria’s green-white colours underscored the significance of the honour bestowed on the Nigerian leader.

Entering the Holy Kaaba is considered a rare privilege, traditionally reserved for select dignitaries and special guests of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

President Tinubu’s visit to Makkah is part of his religious engagements in Saudi Arabia, where he is also performing the lesser Hajj (Umrah).
