Court Strikes Out FG’s Case Against Alleged Fake PFIPC DG

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against the alleged fake Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, Adeniyi Adeyemi.

The judge on Monday terminated the trial following an application by the Federal Government to withdraw the case and move the accused to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for fresh arraignment.

At Monday’s proceedings, the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation, DPPF, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, moved the application for termination.

Oyedepo told the court that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, reviewed the case file and the charge filed by the Inspector General of Police and found some loopholes.

He said the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi in the operation of the fake agency are matters that can be prosecuted by the High Court of the FCT and not the Federal High Court.

The DPPF said a new charge has been filed at the High Court of the FCT and that Adeyemi would be arraigned afresh expeditiously, urging the judge to strike out the charge as required by law.

Following no objection from Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, counsel to Adeyemi, Justice Umar terminated the charge accordingly.

Adeyemi, 38, is being tried alongside two others said to be at large, identified as Femi, surname unknown, and Anu, surname unknown, on charges bordering on conspiracy and forgery.

The charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025 was filed by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation.
