Ekiti Deputy Gov Hails Tinubu’s Appointee for Backing Wars Against School Dropout

… As thousands of pupils get educational support

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has commended a member of the Governing Council, Othman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, Barr Abimbola Daramola, for distributing materials to pupils to bolster school enrolment and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative and education- for- all policy of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.

Mrs Afuye said such pro-education initiative will help in eradicating indices of out- of- school children in the state, in sync with zero tolerance policy being championed by the two leaders to ensure that no pupil must drop out of school on account of poverty.

Giving the commendation in Ikere Ekiti, on Saturday, while distributing the items, Mrs Afuye, represented by her Special Assistant on Special Duties, Prince Akinboye Adegboye, said Daramola had again etched her name in gold as a champion of quality education and demonstrated that he is an avowed believer in the doctrine of education- for -all policy of government .

Materials donated by the donor, who is the Ekiti State Coordinator of Young Professionals for Tinubu and distributed were: 1,500 school bags,1,500 pairs of school sandals, 1,500 school uniforms, 5,000 writing materials, and 50 sewing machines.

Mrs Afuye appealed to well- meaning Ekiti indigenes to emulate the gesture and donate generously to the funding of education to further elevate the strong commitment of the current administration in revamping the sector to sustain the culture of excellence in the sector.

To encourage the donor, the Deputy Governor charged the beneficiaries and members of the community to use the items judiciously and remain committed to initiatives that will improve the welfare and well-being of the people.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather steam, the Ekiti’s number two citizen, called for solid support for President Tinubu in his mission of directing the nation to the path of development and economic progress .

“You all know what President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji stand for. They believe in quality education and education for all.

“Since 2023, these leaders have shown through adequate funding, staff recruitments and empowerment of categories of pupils and students to ensure that no pupil drops out of school on the basis of poor financial standing.

“It is on this basis that I appreciate Barr Daramola for supporting this dream. What you are doing today is historic and it will further serve as a motivation to other Nigerians to donate to the funding of education, because the government can’t do it alone”.

Describing education as the best instrument to conquer poverty, Daramola stated that the empowerment initiative was aimed at supporting children, families and aspiring entrepreneurs, through the distribution of educational materials and productive equipment that can create opportunities for them in the future.

The Tinubu’s appointee said lending support for government to create opportunities for the children and youth in the education sector should be on the front burner and minds of all patriotic Ekiti citizens.

Daramola stated that education remains “the most flourishing industry that has earned the citizens respect, global recognition that must be preserved by all lovers of humanity” .

She expressed hope that the initiative would contribute to improving educational opportunities, supporting livelihoods and strengthening grassroots development, while also mobilising support for President Tinubu’s bid for a second term to consolidate on the gains of his economic restructuring.
