The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has reassured stakeholders that its daily business remains unaffected following a fire incident at its Abuja headquarters over the weekend.

According to a statement released Monday by Joe Abuku, Group Head of Corporate Communications, the blaze broke out on the second floor on the night of Saturday, August 1. Firefighters and emergency responders acted swiftly to contain the flames, preventing them from spreading to other sections of the building.

While the fire destroyed office furniture, appliances, and some equipment in the immediate area, Abuku confirmed that critical data was unharmed. Official documents affected by the incident are securely backed up in the cloud.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway. Meanwhile, the bank has implemented contingency measures to prevent service disruptions, confirming that its head office remains open and fully functional for customers.

Abuku expressed gratitude to the Federal Fire Service, the Nigeria Police Force, FMBN staff, and key stakeholders for their prompt, coordinated response, promising further updates as the investigation progresses.
