President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerging as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced in a statement issued on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Fayose will chair the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.
The board also comprises the incumbent Director-General of the agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed.
President Tinubu also reconstituted the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa (Rtd.) as Chairman.
Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) were appointed as commissioners.
Other members of the commission include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had earlier been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
In other appointments, Dr. Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr. Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc.
President Tinubu also appointed Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Engineer Julius Oloro, a former local government chairman, was named Director-General of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State, replacing the late Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
The President equally approved the constitution of the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), with Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu appointed as Chairman.
Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Also appointed was Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic currently serving as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
