…Fears President Trump may be sabotaged, blamed
….laments Nigeria’s “above the law syndrome”
A renowned Ado Ekiti based cleric and General overseer, Holy Trinity Authority Prophetic International Church, Prophet James Omitade, has warned that the Nigerian governors may mismanage the state police and mess up the system, if eventually approved to curtail insecurity in the country.
The man of God also cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to swiftly deploy all relevant government’s machinery to curtail the rampaging and blistering insecurity, unemployment and hunger to avert another nationwide mass protest in the ilk of endsars.
As criminalities and killings festers across many states, Prophet Omitade, said the reason for the orgy of violence was the well permeated “above the law” syndrome that makes the law to only punish the “innocent”, with the “accused” walking free on the streets.
The Cleric said these in Ado Ekiti, on Thursday, during a chat with journalists on the state of the nation.
On the deafening agitations for the establishment of the state police to quell the abductions and killings in the system, Prophet Omitade, described the advocacy as apposite, but warned that there must be law restraining the governors from having overriding powers to control the personnel.
He told President Tinubu to be decisive and ready to step on toes to permanently tame the criminals shedding the blood of innocent citizens of the country under the guise of banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency.
“I have been saying it for over 14-15 years ago, even before having church platform that the criminal law in Nigeria is not working. A situation where some people are acting as if they are above the law or situation that seems that the law is protecting one section above the others. Look at the killings of innocent souls. Nigeria is now a killing field.
“State police may be of a help if it is not handled by the governors of our states. If State police is handled by the governor of a state that means the end has come to everybody .
“Can you entrust state police to our governors? Those who have been collecting whopping sum of money from the president and there is nothing to show for it. The lives of our people are yet to be better, they are just amassing wealth for tomorrow that is not sure for them .
“There are tensions on the streets already, a protest will take place before 2027 if that protest could break out ,all these governors will get strong negative reactions from the people .
“Hope you’re quite aware that the convoy of Nigeria state governor was attacked early this month?
The kind of reaction they will get from the people they will not be able to tell the story”, he warned.
He said the country will continue to wobble and falter as long as those who are not loyal ,trustworthy, transparent, truthful and upright are being entrusted with power at all levels of government.
“The present people in government today were at one time or the other acting like activists condemning government policies and programmes ,now that is their turn, what are they doing? They are doing the same thing. Until the law in this country is for everyone, I must tell you that this country will be moving from one problem to another”.
Against the backdrop of the agitations that the US President, Donald Trump should intervene and crush the terrorists who are making the country unsafe, Prophet Omitade feared that internal sabotage by fifth columnists may mar such international help.
“External help or not, people in the government know the right thing to do to get the country out of insecurity ,if they are ready to step on toes. The present problem in Nigeria has a political undertone.
All the groups causing problem are having link to certain high people or the other .
“President Trump coming to assist us in Nigeria is not a problem, but won’t our people use the opportunity again to amass wealth for themselves and shifting the blame on Trump ? Internal sabotage may mar such intervention”.
In a stoutly fashion, the man of God rued unbridled quests for power by Nigerian politicians, who can’t stop at nothing to seize power, including stoking mass violence, killing and rigging in the name of politics.
“The present challenge was witnessed by former President Goodluck Jonathan and they wrestled power from him. These people are after power and at all costs, they want to wrestle power from Tinubu. What Nigeria is today is what we all want it to be .
Everyone of us in one position or the other contribute to the present state of Nigeria.
“Even religious leaders are not left out. Prior to the advent of Pentecostal churches, one could say there was love, but today, with more churches, there are diversionary messages promoting ill feelings”.
Prophet Omitade stated that Nigeria is a country so easy to govern, as long as leaders are ready to cede power to the people as demanded by democracy and be ready to be transparent, truthful and accountable.
“To manage this country effectively, all what you need to do is to give the power to the people. How do they go about this ? I will not say it on this platform because they will steal the idea and they will not use it rightly .
“Let the governors use what they are getting to impact on the people. Tension does not know anybody if care is not taking, something worst than endsars may still happen”, he warned .
