EKSG TO HOST LOWLAND RAINFOREST AGRO-ECOLOGICAL ZONE WORKSHOP ON WEDNESDAY

Agricultural stakeholders from Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Edo and Ekiti States will on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, converge on Ado-Ekiti, for the Lowland Rainforest Agro-Ecological Zone Workshop.

A statement from the Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said the workshop slated for the
the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House , Ado-Ekiti is being convened under the auspices of the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit (PFSCU) as part of the implementation framework for the Sustainable Agricultural Value-Chains for Growth (AGROW) programme.

Boluwade stated that the AGROW programme is a flagship national initiative designed to strengthen food security, boost rural livelihoods, and enhance agricultural competitiveness.

He explained that AGROW is structured around:Enabling Environment, Public and Private Investments Across Value Chains and Market Access and Private Sector Partnerships which are three pivotal components that are essential for transforming Nigeria’s food systems.

According to the Commissioner, the workshop will provide a platform for agricultural experts, state representatives, value-chain players, and development partners to review, refine, and validate proposed interventions under the AGROW programme for the Lowland Rainforest Zone.

He said discussions at the
strategic regional gathering will also focus on the shortlisted priority crops across Nigeria’s six agro-ecological zones, with the goal of strengthening alignment with national food security targets.

Mr. Boluwade noted that hosting the workshop underscores Ekiti State’s growing leadership role in advancing agricultural innovation and inter-state collaboration.

He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the deliberations would contribute significantly to improving productivity, driving investment, and enhancing sustainability across the region’s agricultural landscape.

The workshop is scheduled to commence by 9.00am at the announced venue.
