…says UK & Ireland Chapter Duly Inaugurated

Amb. Nureni Hammed
The Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni UK & Ireland Chapter has declared that the new leadership in the Diaspora was duly inaugurated in line with the stipulated standard. The Alumni therefore urged members of the public to disregard a publication by “a group led by one Ms Wonu Adeladun attempting to discredit the newly inaugurated leadership”
A press statement on Saturday by the Chairman and Secretary of the UK/ Ireland chapter Amb. Nureni Hammed and Mr. Taiwo Okunuga respectfully which was made available to New Telegraph clarified that the new leadership of the alumni was officially inaugurated on March 8, 2025, in Birmingham, UK, following Mrs.Adeladun’s decision to dissociate her group from the Global Alumni Body.
The statement affirms that ” the new leadership of the UK/Ireland Chapter which is recognised by the Global Executive Council has legal validity to operate, and is neither in anyway connected to Ms. Wonu Adeladun nor her group.”
The statement reads: “the decision to create a new chapter stemmed from the deletion of Wonu’s group by the global leadership, following her decision to disengage from the activities of the global leadership and operating outside the guidelines of the Association.
” Aftermath of her decision to exit the Global Executive Council, her continued disrespect for the global leadership of the Association and her repugnant disposition towards the constitution of the Alumni Association, our members reached out to the Global Leadership for a re-constitution and re-integration which gave birth to the new UK/Ireland Chapter and rendered her own defunct or at best, a club of old friends – men and women.
The unequivocal facts:
” Our UK/Ireland Chapter, led by Amb. Nureni Hammed, is constitutionally recognised and inaugurated by the Global Alumni President, Engr. Dipo Bamisaye on the 8th of March, 2025.
” We are the only recognised UK/Ireland Structure of our Global Alumni body which is duly registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.
” We remain the only existing UK/Ireland Chapter of the Ekiti State University Alumni Association.
” We consider the publication a disrespect to the Alumni Association. We will continue to unite our alumni for the advancement of our university. The leadership of the Chapter cautions against further misinformation and distortion of facts by Wonu’s group.
“The Chapter under the able chairmanship of Amb. Nureni Hammed is ready and ever- willing to welcome the partnership of every Alumnus including Ms. Wonu Adeladun and her friends, in our continued efforts at collaborating with the Global Executive Council and in tandem with the provisions of our Alummi Association’s Constitution”.
It urged the public to disregard media publication by Adeladun” group. The statement added that” the Leadership remains focused on the arduous task of deepening the Chapter’s partnership with the Global Leadership and become a front liner in the activities of the global alumni family. We hope this statement clarifies the situation and prevents further misinformation”
