The police said it had arrested one Adeleye Ayomide as the suspect in the death of Idowu Christiana, a 300-level student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The deceased was kidnapped by suspected abductors along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Police spokesperson in Lagos, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a post he shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle @benHundeyin on Thursday.
“23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to #LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade #HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing.”
The horrifying incident has ignited widespread outrage across Nigeria, especially on social media. Many Nigerians have taken to Twitter to demand justice for Christiana, with the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah trending.
