Some youths from the Ekiti North Senatorial District have accused the lawmakers representing the district of incompetence, poor representation and mismanagement of constituency funds.
The lawmakers are, Senator Cyril Fasuyi representing Ekiti North Senatorial District, Akinlayo Davidson Kolawole representing Ekiti North Federal Constituency and Akin Rotimi representing Oye Ikole Federal Constituency
The aggrieved youths under the aegis of Concerned Ekiti North Youths made the allegations in a statement made available to newsmen and circulated on various social media platforms.
According to the youths, since the election of the lawmakers into the green and red chambers, they have not shown quality representation and any meaningful commitment to the welfare of their constituents compared to other lawmakers across the country.
The youths were particular about Senator Cyril Fasuyi whom they accused of not having a constituency office and had not held a single meeting with his people to give proper feedback or sought their demands.
The statement reads: “Concerned Ekiti North began her campaign against incessant poor representation of our Jerusalem (Ekiti North Senatorial District) as part of our efforts towards ensuring our District experience productive representation.
“We’ve since then trying to ensure we don’t experience poor representation in our district anymore. Senator Cyril Fasuyi who’s currently representing us at the red chamber has not shown any sign of competence and good representation.
“Our focus yet is on Senator Cyril Fasuyi since he holds a leading point in the district. Meanwhile, our searchlights are on the activities of our green chamber representatives. We’re coming to them soon.
“Concerned Ekiti North Youths had raised some salient concerns about his (Sen. Cyril Fasuyi) undemocratic and arrogant approach to the demands of masses.
“It’s statutory for any representative to have a situation office where expectedly, holistic demands and sincere requests of the district can be submitted. Likewise, it’s yet unbiased means to get back to people irrespective of their political affiliations.
“Cyril doesn’t have situation office. Aren’t you wondered what could’ve stopped a sitting senator who allegedly receives over thirteen (13) million naira (#13,000,000:00) monthly to rent (if erecting a new edifice is hard for him) an apartment that cost less than 0.1% of his monthly take home?
“Senator Cyril hadn’t for once moved a motion at the red chamber despite incessant security threats and challenges ravaging his senatorial district. It’s true that “a true nature of man isn’t known until he/she is given power and or money.
“As usual but more elaborated, Senator Cyril Fasuyi deceived Ekiti North Youths with Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) training programme which did not hold.
“Again, Sen. Cyril had promised his district of erecting 2000 solar powered street lights before the end of October, 2023. Further enquiries made on the cause of the delay shows that, it’s another poorly planned deceit.
“Till date ONLY successfully executed project by our distinguished Sen. Cyril is “training some people how to make soap when other senators were already performing wonders with reference to Senator Yayi of Ogun State.
“We have not seen any meaningful project despite the constituency fund received”, the Youths alleged.
Efforts to speak with the lawmakers proved abortive as they did not respond to several calls.
